Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 11th December)

Best Days: Tiny peelers Friday morning, Saturday morning and Sunday morning

Recap

Onshore and sloppy waves yesterday, cleaner today but on the small to tiny side, ideal for beginners.

This week and weekend (Dec 12 - 15)

Tomorrow morning will start tiny but a weak frontal system sliding in from the west should kick up a small pulse of W/SW swell into the afternoon, reaching 1-2ft, easing back to 1-1.5ft on Friday morning, with a secondary front possibly maintaining this size into the afternoon and Saturday.

It'll be ideal for beginners when clean, while looking at conditions and tomorrow afternoon looks average with a gusty S/SW breeze after morning offshores.

Friday morning looks clean with a N/NW offshore, tending W/NW and W/SW late, S/SW and onshore Saturday.

Tiny 1-1.5ft waves look to persist Sunday with offshore winds returning, N/NW ahead of a shift S/SW through the day.

Into Monday a very inconsistent and long-range W/SW groundswell is due, generated by a distant fetch of W/NW gales moving through our swell window, providing 1-2ft sets across Clifton. We may see a weak onshore S'ly breeze as a trough moves through before dawn, but we'll confirm this Friday.

Longer term there's nothing significance on the cards as the storm track focusses towards Western Australia and then dips south-east through our swell window. So grab the big board and make the most of the tiny swells.
