Great couple of days
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 18th August)
Best Days: Thursday, Friday morning, desperate surfers Sunday morning
Recap
Clean fun wave on the coast yesterday with a good S/SW swell to 3ft, while today a new W/SW groundswell has offered 2-3ft waves this morning, but a larger and stronger SW groundswell is due into this afternoon, kicking to 4-5ft by dark as winds go E.
Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl
This week and weekend (Sep 19 - 22)
Later today's large SW groundswell has been generated by a strong polar low moving through our swell window this week, producing a fairly persistent fetch of storm-force W'ly winds.
The groundswell should reach 4-5ft late today and unfortunately peak overnight.. though there's still plenty of moonlight? Easing back steadily from a similar 4-5ft tomorrow morning.
Winds tomorrow will be gusty from the N/NE tending NE all day, persistent from the N/NE Friday as the swell drops away from a small 2ft on the sets.
Following this there's nothing significant on the cards, with a deepening trough on the weekend seeing a short-lived burst of S'ly winds in our swell window Saturday afternoon and evening, shifting out of our swell window Sunday morning.
A small 1-2ft wave may be seen Sunday morning with NW tending W/NW winds.
Following this there's nothing significant so make the most of the coming days.
