This weekend and next week (Feb 19 - 24)

Our tricky though solid W'ly swell for tomorrow is still on track but luckily a secondary tight low pushing in under us early tomorrow and through the day should produce a more reliable though windy pulse of W/SW swell for the afternoon.

Size wise the morning looks to be around 2ft+ but a kick to 2-3ft should be seen through the day but with a gusty W/NW breeze, likely tending W/SW at some stage through the afternoon.

The swell will ease quickly Wednesday from a smaller 1-2ft but with good offshore N/NW tending W/NW winds.

A small new W/SW swell should then be seen to build Thursday, peaking Friday morning generated by a weakening front that's currently moving in on the tail of the system linked to tomorrow's swell.

A weak mid-period increase in size is due Thursday afternoon to 1-2ft across Clifton, tiny early with a W tending W/SW breeze. Friday looks the pick with fun 2ft sets and a light NW offshore, giving into SE sea breezes.

The swell will fade through the weekend but we may see a sneaky SE swell from a polar fetch of SE gales south of New Zealand today. Size wise we're looking at 1-2ft sets Friday, easing Saturday from 1-1.5ft but besides an early W/NW breeze, winds look onshore.

Another good S/SW swell is likely on Sunday from a strengthening front south-southeast of us on the weekend, but more on this Wednesday.
