Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl
This week and weekend (Oct 18 – 21)
The only real swell to talk about through the coming days and weekend is tomorrow's tiny and inconsistent W/SW groundswell.
This was generated by a strong but distant and northerly positioned storm south-west of WA over the weekend and should provide infrequent 1-1.5ft waves across Clifton before fading Friday.
Winds should be clean through the morning and N/NW, before sea breezes most likely develop into the afternoon.
Similar winds are due as the swell fades Friday.
The next noticeable increase in swell is due Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, with a strong but short-lived polar low developing south-southwest of WA tomorrow afternoon, aiming a fetch of gale to severe-gale W'ly winds in our swell window.
This should produce a fun 2ft wave Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, cleanest on the later with a morning N/NW offshore, freshening from the N/NE into the afternoon.
Into the rest of the week small flukey W'ly swells will pass under us, produced by various different storms firing up south-west of WA, mostly too north of our swell window.
The best swell looks to fill in Wednesday as one of the fronts generates a close-range W/SW fetch in our swell window Tuesday, with 2-3ft sets likely, but more on this Friday.
