This weekend and next week (Feb 3 - 9)
Today's increase in S/SW swell should be followed up by a secondary reinforcing pulse tomorrow, generated by well aligned and slow moving polar frontal activity south of us the last couple of days.
2ft surf is expected across Clifton with a light N'ly wind ahead of fresh E/SE sea breezes, tiny Wednesday but clean again in the morning with a N/NW offshore.
The next increase in swell is due later Thursday and more so Friday, that being a S/SE groundswell from good strong fetch of S/SE gales currently on the polar shelf, south of New Zealand.
This swell will be inconsistent but should come in around 2ft Friday, though winds will unfortunately be onshore from the S/SE with a weak trough to our east.
Saturday should be clean but the swell looks tiny and easing from 1-1.5ft.
Longer term there's nothing really significant due until mid-late next week when the westerly storm track increases a little in activity. More on this Wednesday.
