Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 21st September)

Best Days: Dawn Thursday

Recap

Clean small 1-2ft waves yesterday for most of the day before a mid-afternoon SE'ly kicked in. Today the surf was back to 1-1.5ft early before the new W/SW swell arrived, with some slightly better 1-2ft sets due into this afternoon. Conditions were nice until S/SE sea breezes kicked in again.

This week and weekend (Sep 22 - 25)

Small fading surf is due into tomorrow, tiny into Friday and the rest of the weekend. This afternoon's W/SW groundswell should still offer 1-2ft sets at dawn tomorrow before fading.

Winds are a little dicey tomorrow morning though with a S/SW breeze due to develop by 7am or so, but the dawn session may see variable breezes.

Friday will then see similar conditions but tiny amounts of swell.

Sunday's swell has been downgraded with the frontal system generating it due to push up and through the Bight instead of staying further south.

Next week onwards (Sep 26 onwards)

Into early next week tiny surf will continue, but there's potential for a better swell Thursday. We'll review this Friday.
