Small swells for this week, best tomorrow morning
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 16th September)
Best Days: Tuesday, Wednesday morning
Recap
Small fun waves on Saturday with a kick in swell for Sunday with variable winds most of the day before a S/SE'ly kicked in mid-afternoon.
Today small waves continued around an inconsistent 2ft on the sets with morning offshores ahead of S/SE sea breezes. A better pulse of groundswell should of produced larger sets this afternoon.
This week (Sep 20 - 23)
This afternoon's increase in W/SW groundswell should ease back from 2ft tomorrow morning and conditions are due to be clean with offshore N/NW tending N/NE winds as a surface trough that was due to move across us stalls to the west.
Wednesday will remain clean through the morning as well with a light morning NW'ly, giving into a SE'ly through the afternoon as the trough finally starts moving east. A very inconsistent W/SW groundswell should keep 1-2ft sets hitting Clifton, before fading into Thursday from a similar size but with onshore S/SE winds persisting across the coast.
Into the end of the week there's nothing too significant due as the storm track remains less than favourably aligned for us.
This trend will continue into the weekend and at least early next week as mid-latitude fronts fire up towards WA. More on this Wednesday.
