Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 2nd September)

Best Days: Monday through Wednesday

Recap

A good new pulse of SW groundswell yesterday to 2-3ft with offshore winds, while today the swell was smaller and more back to 2ft.

This weekend and next week (Sep 3 - 9)

Tomorrow morning should still offer something around 1-2ft across Clifton during the morning, but it's Sunday afternoon onwards we're interested in.

Our small and inconsistent W/SW groundswell due into the afternoon to 1-2ft is still expected, but we'll see the start of Monday's swell brought forward a little.

This will be due to the fetch of severe-gale to near storm-force W/NW winds generated it through our western swell window racing towards us this evening and tomorrow.

A late increase in size is now due Sunday, reaching 2-3ft by dark ahead of a peak Monday morning to 3ft+.

A secondary slightly weaker fetch of W/NW winds will produce a reinforcing W/SW swell for the afternoon, followed by a more SW pulse Tuesday morning. This pulse should be generated by a polar fetch of W/SW gales to our south-west on Sunday afternoon and into early Monday.

3ft sets should continue across Clifton, easing back slightly into the afternoon, further from 2ft+ Wednesday.

Conditions should be good and clean through this whole period (besides Sunday afternoon) with morning NW winds, W/NW into the afternoons.

Longer term there's more strong W/SW groundswell due from next weekend, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
