Easing clean surf worth making the most of
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 4th May)
Best Days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, early Sunday
Recap
A slow small start to yesterday with tiny clean surf, but later in the day the swell started to kick ahead of much stronger and bigger 3-5ft waves across Clifton this morning under all day offshores.
This week and weekend (May 5 - 8)
Today is the peak of the swell, but a slow easing trend is due through the coming days due to a pro-longed fetch of gale to severe-gale SW winds being aimed through our swell window over the past few days.
Clifton should still see 3-4ft sets early tomorrow, easing through the day and then down further from 2ft+ Friday morning.
Conditions are looking great with an offshore N/NW breeze all day tomorrow and then NW winds Friday.
Saturday morning should see small 2ft sets with a background SW swell, but the afternoon should see a small new reinforcing W/SW swell filling in, keeping sets around 2ft, easing back from 1-2ft Sunday.
Clean conditions should continue Saturday but a deepening mid-latitude low moving in from the west will bring increasing onshore E'ly winds Sunday.
Longer term there's nothing significant until the mid-latitude low maybe moves under us mid-week, but more on this Friday.
