Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 29th January)

Best Days: No great days

Recap

Tiny surf again yesterday with N'ly tending NE winds, favouring more exposed breaks across the region.

Today the surf remained tiny with average winds through the morning, improving this afternoon.

This weekend and next week (Jan 30 – Feb 5)

A tiny and inconsistent SW groundswell is due tomorrow, to 1ft or so with average E'ly tending E/NE winds, best at more exposed spots.

Sunday should see a touch more size as a less consistent but slightly bigger SW groundswell fills in to 1-2ft. Conditions are looking less favourable though with a fresh E'ly tending E/SE breeze.

A drop in swell should be seen Monday but moderate to fresh E/SE winds will continue to create poor conditions, tending more E/NE Tuesday with tiny fading waves.

There'll be nothing of significance until later next week/weekend, as a strong mid-latitude low forming under WA sits initially to high and north to generate any swell for us.

The low is expected to drift south-east through the middle of the week, aiming a weak fetch of W/SW winds through our swell window, followed by a secondary system behind it. We should see some fun swell in the 2ft range, but check back here on Monday for the latest on this. Have a great weekend!
