Fun swells from Wednesday afternoon
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 18th January)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Friday morning, Saturday morning
Recap
Tiny waves the last few days in the 1-1.5ft range with clean conditions each morning.
This week (Jan 19 – 22)
We've got some fun SW groundswell on the cards this week, but before that tomorrow will be tiny with W/NW winds ahead of SE sea breezes.
Into Wednesday a good new SW groundswell is due to fill in ahead of a peak Wednesday.
A pre-frontal fetch of W/NW gales has generated Wednesday's increase, with Clifton due to build to 1-2ft later in the day, while a post-frontal fetch of W/SW gales that are currently south-west of WA, will generate a stronger pulse of swell for Thursday to a better 2ft+ across Clifton.
Behind this though another strong polar front is due to move in, generating a secondary good pulse of SW groundswell for Friday to 2ft, with the odd bigger set possible, easing back from 1-2ft Saturday morning.
Conditions are looking great each morning, with NW offshores ahead of afternoon SE sea breezes both Thursday and Friday, with all day offshore NW tending W/NW winds Saturday.
Longer term we may see some weak polar frontal activity fire up below us into early next week, but check back here Wednesday for the latest on this.
