Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Friday 29th Aug)

Best Days: Exposed spots over the weekend, the East Coast

Recap

A new long-range W/SW groundswell came in well across Clifton yesterday with infrequent 2ft sets under offshore winds. Today the swell was all but gone, with the East Coast being the centre of attention with a pumping NE swell.

This weekend and next week (Aug 30 – Sep 1)

The surf will remain tiny over the weekend with 1ft waves across Clifton due tomorrow before backing off through Sunday. Exposed spots will be the go with a strengthening N/NW tending N/NE breeze due tomorrow, while Sunday should see N/NW tending variable winds.

Through the start of next weekend there's nothing significant at all on the cards besides a weak and poor windswell from a strengthening cold front pushing across us Monday. Onshore winds will meet this swell and by the time they swing offshore Wednesday it'll be tiny and on the ease.

Into the end of the week a better W/SW groundswell is due to 2ft or so, but again the front responsible for the swell will pass across us and project north, leaving lingering onshores across the coast and average conditions.

Longer term there's still nothing major on the cards, so with the poor outlook, check the latest East Coast forecast for more options. Have a great weekend!
