Upgrade for the weekend f/cast but next week is looking much juicier as a complex low in the Tasman aims up more directly at Tasmania.

Gales to strong gales develop later Sun and o/night into Mon as a complex low forms in the Tasman. Multiple swell generating fetches are expected to form and sling shot around this huge, slow moving low gyre. Thus we can expect an extended period of large surf next week with embedded pulses from the S through S/SE-SE as the week goes on.
The surf will be tiny or onshore on the weekend, with a bit of rare swell again next week but with winds currently unsure.
The coming period is tricky with an XL groundswell due but with less than ideal winds.

We've got some new swell with varying winds on the weekend, good next week with a strong W/SW groundswell and favourable winds.
A strong frontal system moving in from the west looks a touch better, while winds for next week are touch and go.
Large S/SW groundswell due later next week.
Lovely settled conditions at the moment with a broad area of high pressure in the Tasman and a broad but weak tradewind fetch just moving into a better position S and SW of New Caledonia. That will see some small E/NE swell develop through the end of this week into the weekend.
Make the most of the current swell as the coming period is very tiny and slow.
