Best Days: South Coast Tuesday morning and Wednesday, Mid Coast late Friday and Saturday

Good waves on the South Coast magnets Saturday with an inconsistent but fun swell and offshore winds, while Sunday was bumpy and building through the afternoon, semi-stormy and 2-3ft on the Mid Coast.

Today the swell was still large and best in protected spots on the South Coast, while the Mid Coast a poor and average 2ft.

This week and weekend (Dec 4 - 9)

Later yesterday's and this mornings large swell was generated by a strong and slow moving low over the weekend, with the swell now on the ease.

A secondary front firing up on the back of the low today will slow the easing trend into tomorrow and winds will be good for the South Coast over the coming days.

A variable breeze from the NE should create clean though slightly lumpy conditions tomorrow morning with easing sets from 4ft off Middleton before sea breezes kick in through the afternoon. The Mid Coast will be tiny, dropping from 1-1.5ft but clean and ideal for beginners.

Wednesday looks super fun on the magnets with better N/NE winds, holding most of the day and tending variable into the afternoon.

Thursday will again be clean but Middleton will be tiny, with possibly the odd 2ft'er at Waits and Parsons for desperate surfers.

A low point is expected on Friday morning and a surface trough drifting in from the west looks to bring onshore S/SE winds, and a new small though fun W/SW swell is expected to build into the afternoon, peak overnight and ease slowly Saturday.

This will be generated by a slow moving and broad but relatively weak low that's currently west-southwest of WA.

A slow moving fetch of strong W/SW winds will be best aimed for the Mid Coast, with sets building to 2ft later in the day, and easing from a similar size Saturday morning.

Middleton is only due to see a small increase with the westerly direction, building to 2ft+ and easing from that size on Saturday morning.

Winds on Saturday will remain from the S/SE, favouring the Mid Coast, while a strengthening of this wind regime through the weekend will see a junky onshore S/SE windswell generated for the South Coast Sunday.

Longer term another inconsistent W/SW groundswell is due Monday next week, but we'll have a closer look at this in Wednesday's update.
