Small weekend, new W/SW swell mid-week
South Australian Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 17th November)
Best Days: Sunday morning South Coast swell magnets, Wednesday and Thursday both coasts
Recap
Poor surf across both locations yesterday with a tiny choppy swell on the Mid Coast and building stormy S'ly windswell down South.
Today the Mid Coast was still poor and tiny, while the South Coast offered plenty of size, but no decent surfing options with a gusty SW wind.

This weekend and next week (Nov 18 - 24)
Today's moderate sized S'ly windswell should ease off through this afternoon as a result of the surface trough linked to it, breaking down and weakening into this morning.
With this there's no major size expected into tomorrow morning, with leftover fading 2ft sets across most spots down South.
Into the late afternoon and evening, our new pulse of inconsistent SW groundswell is due to fill in, generated at the start of the week by a distant polar low in the Heard Island region.
Middleton is expected to build to 2ft+ while the Mid Coast isn't due to see any size, with easing surf from 2ft across Middleton early Sunday.
Winds tomorrow won't be great with a variable breeze from the S'th, leaving a lot of lump and untidiness to the surf before sea breezes kick in, while Sunday should be cleaner with a morning NE offshore.
The swell will ease into the afternoon leaving tiny waves into Monday and Tuesday as winds persist from the NE.
At touched on last update, we should see some new W/SW groundswell filling in mid-week, generating by a slow moving polar low firing up between Western Australia and Heard Island today.
An initial fetch of W/SW gales will generate a small inconsistent W/SW groundswell for late Tuesday and Wednesday morning, while a better fetch of gale to severe-gale winds moving on top of the already active sea state should generate a larger and stronger groundswell for later Wednesday and Thursday morning.
No major size is due on dark Tuesday, but Wednesday the Mid Coast should see inconsistent 1-1.5ft sets and 2ft sets off Middleton. The stronger swell should provide better 2ft+ sets across the Mid Coast into the late afternoon/evening, while Middleton should build to 3ft.
A peak in size is due overnight, with easing surf from 2ft on the Mid and 3ft across Middleton Thursday morning.
Winds are looking favourable at this stage, with a continuation of morning NE'ly breezes and afternoon sea breezes, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
