Recap
Tiny mix of S and NE swells to 1ft yesterday with a slight increase in NE windswell to 1-2ft today under NW winds before a S/SW change later this a’noon.
This weekend and next (Aug 25 - Sep1)
A few slight tweaks for the weekend f/cast. Light SW winds tomorrow tend to light S-SE breezes in the a’noon as a high pressure ridge builds then weakens across the NE corner. A small blend of S swell pushes up into the 1-2ft range.
Bigger S swell Sun, as a storm force low passes under the state with a weaker leading edge. Expect surf to build into the 2-3ft range during the day. We may see some more local E/NE swell to 2ft fill in as winds feed into a trough off the Gippsland coast which drifts down towards Flinders Island. Light/variable winds are now expected all day.
Into next week and high pressure drifts NE of Tasmania with a NE fetch expected to deliver a small payload of NE swell to 2-3ft on Mon. A mix of long and mid period S swells also see surf to 3ft, easing during the day. Light winds tend N-N/NE during the day.
NE swell extends into Tues in the 2-3ft range with N’ly winds possibly tending NW as a trough approaches.
Fun leftovers from the NE in the 2-3ft range, ease during the day on Wed with winds likely to tend W’ly before a late S’ly change.
Further ahead and we’ll keep eyes on a trough and front Thurs which looks to deliver some small S swell to 3ft, although models are mixed so check back Mon for details.
Easing swells are then likely later next week into the weekend as zonal W’ly winds push across the state.
Seeya Mon and have a great weekend!
