Best Days: Northern corners and swell magnets every day this week and Saturday

Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)

  • Inconsistent pulses of S/SE-SE swell for the week, strongest Wednesday PM/Thursday AM and Friday, easing Saturday

Recap

Small levels of S'ly swell on the weekend, while this morning saw a better pulse of S/SE groundswell which has since eased.

This week and weekend (Jul 4 - 9)

We've got a fun week of waves across the northern corners and south-east swell magnets thanks to various fetches of S/SE-S/SW winds spawning around the southern flank of a broad, Southern Ocean gyre that's sitting just east of New Zealand.

We've got two defined pulses of swell due with the first due on Wednesday ahead of a secondary pulse for Friday.

Tomorrow looks to come in at 2ft+ with Wednesday kicking more to 3ft+, easing from a similar size Thursday morning.

Friday's might push a little stronger and to 3ft to occasionally 4ft before easing back from 3ft Saturday. All other locations will be smaller thanks to the southerly angle of the swells.

Conditions look to be great for northern corners and the south magnets all week and generally out of the northern quadrant (more NW during the mornings).

Following this run of S/SE-SE swell, the outlook is slower as the westerly stormy track kicks into gear. Therefore make the most of the coming days of surf.
