Recap

Inconsistent but good levels of E/NE trade-swell yesterday and this morning, mixed in with a fresh pulse of S’ly groundswell arriving mid-morning. Winds have been favourable as well with plenty of quality surfing options.

This week and next (Apr 14 - 22)

Looking at the end of the week and we’ll see today’s S’ly groundswell easing through tomorrow while the the E/NE energy also tails away, slowed by one final pulse on Friday.

South magnets should ease back from 2-3ft, with open beaches seeing 2ft+ sets out of the E/NE tomorrow, pulsing to a very inconsistent 2ft to sometimes 3ft Friday.

Winds should be NW all day across northern regions tomorrow with sea breezes from about Scamander south. Friday should then see fresh N/NW winds blowing all day.

Moving into the weekend and we’ve got an upgrade in a S’ly swell due Saturday, with the polar low linked to it now due to generate a slightly stronger and better fetch of W/SW gales through our swell window.

This should produce a fun S’ly groundswell for Saturday, building through the day and peaking into the afternoon to 3ft+ on the south magnets, easing from 2ft Sunday.

Winds will be poor Saturday as a trough linked to the swell generating low pushes up the coast Friday evening, leaving lingering S/SE breezes that will shift E and the NE.

Try northern corners later or early Sunday with N/NW winds.

Longer term there’s nothing significant on the cards until a strong polar frontal progression moves into our swell window later week. This should bring some good S’ly swell energy, but more on this Friday.
