S'ly swell worth making the most of
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 9th April)
Best Days: Tomorrow north-east magnets, Sunday afternoon, Monday, Tuesday morning south swell magnets
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Small, inconsistent NE swell for tomorrow
- Building S swell Sun with W tending SW winds, easing Mon with W/SW tending S winds, smaller Tue but with W/NW tending N/NW winds
Recap
Tiny surf with nothing of note on the coast.
This weekend and next week (Apr 10 - 16)
A small pulse of inconsistent NE swell should be seen tomorrow, generated by the relatively weak and distant low that's been moving slowly down the East Coast. Try the north-east magnets for a small 2ft wave.
Moving into Sunday we'll see the weakening 'bombing' low linked to large surf across our south and west coasts moving in.
This will see a fetch of strong to near gale-force S/SW winds projected up past us through Sunday, generating a pulse of S'ly swell to 4-5ft through the afternoon but with W'ly tending SW winds.
The swell will ease back through Monday from 3-5ft but winds look to be favourable for open beaches which will be smaller, W/SW in the morning, shifting S into the afternoon.
Tuesday will become more favourable for the south magnets with a W/NW tending N/NW breeze but size wise we'll be looking at easing 2-3ft sets.
Following the S'ly swell there's nothing significant showing on the charts at this stage, but we'll have another look at this on Monday. Have a great weekend!

Heads up I forgot to mention the NE swell I've been talking about Monday and Wednesday. It's in there now.
