Small swell pulses to focus on
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 25th November)
Best Days: Tomorrow morning for the keen, northern corners Friday, Saturday morning for the keen
Recap
Nothing of note yesterday morning but a small pulse of swell was seen into the late afternoon, peaking today with fun sets on the open beaches.
This week and weekend (Nov 26 - 29)
A relatively weak and fast moving low through the Tasman Sea generated a short-lived fetch of E'ly winds in our swell window Monday, producing the current swell on the coast.
We saw a slightly stronger fetch of E/SE gales generated yesterday evening, but more so aimed towards NSW. Due to the poor alingment, we'll be lucky to see anything over 2ft from this source, with it due to fill in and peak Friday morning.
So the rest of the week looks to consist of small, 1-2ft sets for the desperate across the open beaches, strongest Friday morning.
Also in the mix Friday will be a fleeting S'ly swell (not above 2ft) from a weak front pushing past us tomorrow afternoon, and N/NE windswell likely reaching 2ft into the afternoon with strengthening N/NE winds.
Coming back to the local winds and a W'ly offshore is due tomorrow, shifting onshore mid-late morning with a trough and then E/NE into the afternoon. Friday will then see early light N winds, strengthening from the N/NE through the morning.
Moving into Saturday, and Friday's N/NE windswell will ease back from 2ft max on the sets but with favourable winds early, light and offshore ahead of an E'ly change mid-late morning, E/NE into the afternoon.
A trough may bring a slightly stronger but weak S'ly change Sunday and small, weak windswell but beyond this there's nothing significant at all on the cards unfortunately.
Check back Friday for any changes.
