Slight upgrade in weak northerly windswell
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 16th November)
Best Days: Friday once the southerly change hits
Recap
Tiny surf both yesterday and today with no quality options.
This week and weekend (Nov 17 - 22)
Moving into the end of the week, we've got a small N/NE windswell on the cards for Friday as a southerly change moves through, linked with a surface trough sliding in from the west, squeezing a high in the Tasman Sea.
The swell generating fetch is looking a touch better with N/NE winds developing tomorrow, off the southern NSW coast, strongest and extending down to us early Friday morning.
With this tomorrow should remain tiny, with a pulse of N/NE swell Friday 2ft across north-east facing beaches, easing through the day as a morning W/NW-NW breeze gives into a strong S-S/SE change late morning/midday. Once the change hits, those southern corners will be the pick.
The change will be fleeting but a burst of strong S'ly winds should kick up a very late increase in S'ly windswell that's due to ease back from 2ft+ Saturday morning. Winds will unfortunately be S/SE tending E/SE, creating poor conditions with the weak, easing swell.
Moving into next week we may see a surface trough develop into a more significant low in the Tasman Sea though its alignment for swell production and its swift movement isn't ideal.
Friday will have more clarity on the swell potential for next week though.
