Small N/NE swell, larger late next week
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 2nd October)
Best Days: Noth-east magnets Sunday morning for the keen, Monday morning, Tuesday morning, late next week
Recap
Wednesday’s strong S/SE groundswell eased through yesterday with great waves across northern corners, smaller today with some N/NE windswell in the mix.
This weekend and next week (Oct 3 - 9)
We’ve got a small period of N/NE windswell energy ahead, generated by initially not overly well aimed N/NW winds tomorrow, better out of the N/NE on Sunday.
With this tomorrow will be lucky to top 1-2ft and with average conditions under gusty NW winds. A weak and late S’ly change will bring cleaner conditions Sunday morning with similar 1-2ft waves, ahead of strengthening N/NE sea breezes.
A bit more size should be seen Monday out of the N/NE as the fetch off the southern NSW coast strengthens and broadens ahead of a trough, producing 2ft to possibly 3ft sets. Winds are tricky with a S’ly change moving through at dawn, possibly becoming variable through the morning ahead of NE sea breezes.
This change will be linked to a polar front pushing up past us, bringing a S’ly swell for later Tuesday and Wednesday but only to 2-3ft or so on the south magnets.
Coming back to Tuesday morning and the N/NE swell is likely to be easing from 2ft+ with a W/SW offshore, giving into SE sea breezes and then W/NW tending NE winds on Wednesday.
Longer term our larger N/NE swell event for later in the week is still on track with stormy conditions initially ahead of an offshore change, but more on this Friday. Have a great weekend!
