Small, flukey swells
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 2nd September)
Best Days: South swell magnets tomorrow, Tuesday
Recap
A small, easing S'ly swell yesterday from 1-2ft, tiny and windswelly today.
This week and weekend (Sep 3 - 6)
We've got a new pulse of small S'ly swell due tomorrow across the south swell magnets, generated by a brief polar fetch of W/SW gales in our southern swell window the last couple of days.
Sets to 2ft are expected, mixed with a weak, tiny N/NE windswell.
Winds will be favourable for the south magnets and N/NW, strengthening through the day and the NW on Friday but with tiny fading waves.
Moving into the weekend there's nothing significant on the cards with the South Arm a better prospect for a small wave, while early next week a small N/NE windswell is on the cards.
A mid-latitude front moving in from the west will squeeze a high in the Tasman Sea, projecting strengthening N/NE winds down towards us from the southern NSW coast.
A late increase in size is due Monday but Tuesday should reveal 2ft to possibly 3ft sets as a NW tending W/NW change moves through. The swell will fade as winds go more offshore, with a weak, follow up S'ly swell possible Wednesday/Thursday.
More on these weak and flukey swells Friday.
