Easing easterly swell, with a fun south swell Tuesday
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 31st January)
Best Days: Saturday morning east swell magnets, Tuesday south swell magnets, Thursday
Recap
A small easing S'ly swell yesterday with less than ideal winds, while today's pulse of inconsistent E/NE groundswell was only reported at a disappointing 2-3ft. The inconsistency could of led to this, but there should have been much bigger sets across the coast as Sydney pulsed to 4-5ft yesterday afternoon and it was a bit better aimed to the south.

This weekend and next week (Feb 3 - 9)
What ever swell was seen this morning is expected to ease through the weekend, and with today reported at 2-3ft, tomorrow will likely be small and easing from 2ft, 1-2ft Sunday.
Tomorrow an early morning SW'ly should create good conditions, with Sunday looking a little dicey as a S/SE change moves through shortly after dawn.
Moving into next week and our S'ly swell due Monday/Tuesday now looks to be limited to mostly Tuesday now.
A slow moving polar frontal progression developing south of us and stretching up towards New Zealand should produce some fun S'ly swell, though an initial pulse Monday looks small and to 2ft or so.
Tuesday's better pulse should reveal fun 3ft sets across south magnets with a light morning offshore ahead of N/NE sea breezes, favouring south magnets.
The swell's expected to ease through the afternoon, further Wednesday but a strong small fetch of S/SE gales on the backside of the progression should provide an inconsistent 2-3ft pulse Thursday.
Also in the mix later Wednesday and Thursday will be a consistent N/NE windwell to 3ft or so, produced by a strengthening fetch of N/NE winds down our coast.
An approaching change will swing winds offshore through the day and cause a drop in size.
Longer term there are a couple of additional swell sources, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
