This weekend and next week (Dec 23 - 29)

As talked about the last couple of updates, there's nothing significant on the cards for our coast until the middle of next week.

We're not likely to see much out of the S'th later today or early tomorrow and a weak change on Sunday evening isn't due to bring any swell either.

We then look to the middle of next week and beyond when we're expected to see a strong high pressure system setup in the Tasman Sea, with fronts approaching from the west squeezing its western flank.

The high will be strong enough to deflect them away, but we'll see fun levels of persistent N/NE windswell developing across our coast.

An initial increase is due Wednesday afternoon, holding Thursday around 2-3ft at north-east facing beaches, building further Friday as a stronger front tries to move in from the west.

Surf to 3ft+ should be seen and we'll likely see the front move through, swinging winds offshore. We'll have a closer look at this Monday though. Have a happy and safe Christmas!
