Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 17th November)

Best Days: No great days

Recap

Poor conditions yesterday with an easing N/NE swell and new S/SE windswell with SE winds.

Today the swell was mixed up again with light onshore winds and leftover 2ft sets. Not great.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This weekend and week (Nov 18 - 24)

Over the coming forecast period we'll see small and weak levels of persistent N/NE windswell across our coast, generated by a stationary high in the southern Tasman Sea and weak inability across inland Australia, squeezing the western flank of the high.

A persistent fetch of weak NE winds will be generated through our north-eastern swell window, producing N/NE windswell in the 2ft range over the weekend, backing off into early next week as the fetch relaxes.

Smaller and weaker 1-2ft waves max are due Monday through Friday across north-east magnets, fading into Friday afternoon as a trough finally moves across the state.

Winds through this period won't be ideal for north-east facing beaches at all, with persistent NE breezes, lighter and more N-N/NW each morning.

Once the NE swell fades Friday afternoon, there's nothing significant for next weekend, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
