S'ly swell for Friday, fading into the weekend
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 28th June)
Best Days: Friday afternoon, early Saturday south magnets
Recap
Good fun S'ly swell persisting at 3ft across south magnets yesterday with favourable winds, easing back a little today but with still the odd one about.
This week and weekend (June 29 – Jul 2)
There isn't expected to be any S'ly swell left tomorrow, but into Friday we'll see a renewal of S'ly energy as a strong cold front pushes up and across the state.
A fetch of strong S/SW winds will be projected nicely up through our southern swell window, generating a new S'ly swell to 3ft+ across south facing beaches with W/SW winds. A late variable breeze should open up fun options for keen surfers.
The structure of the low isn't quite as favourable for us into the weekend, with easing S/SE swell due Saturday from the 2ft range but with W/NW winds.
The small SE pulse on the cards for Sunday looks very minimal as well with 1-2ft sets likely at magnets, easing Monday from a similar size.
N/NW winds will favour south magnets Sunday, while a stronger fetch of N/NE winds developing to our north-west Monday looks to generate a small NE swell to 2ft at north facing beaches as winds swing NW.
Longer term there's nothing significant until late next week when a stronger cold-outbreak is due across us, with flurry of polar fronts stalling in our southern swell window. This should generate a large S'ly swell episode, SE as it eases, but more on this Friday.
