Fun S/SE swell for the weekend
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 1st February)
Best Days: Later Saturday, Sunday
Recap
Tiny levels of swell yesterday, continuing this morning with no decent energy in the water.
This week and weekend (Feb 2 - 5)
With a new month lets hope the surf outlook changes.
The remained of this week is expected to remain tiny to flat, but the possible S/SE swell for the weekend is actually looking OK.
A small polar fetch of SE winds are currently being aimed through our swell window, and while small, wind speeds are significant, reaching severe-gale to storm-force.
This should produce an inconsistent but good S/SE groundswell for the weekend, building Saturday afternoon to 2ft by dark, peaking Sunday around 3ft or so. This is a tricky source close to the polar ice shelf so it could be a little smaller/bigger depending but we'll have to see.
Winds are looking good most of Saturday and NW, with W/NW tending W'ly winds Sunday.
The swell is then due to tail away slowly early next week.
Longer term there's the possibility for a deepening trough to our north-east early next week, but we'll have to review this Friday.
