Good clean southerly swell tomorrow, slow thereafter
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 9th December)
Best Days: Saturday south magnets, dawn Sunday south magnets
Recap
A tiny start to yesterday but a good N/NE windswell built through the day and peaked into the afternoon/evening with a late offshore change.
Come this morning there was no real size left across the coast, and a new S'ly swell was yet to show, but this has since filled in with S/SW winds.
This weekend and next week (Dec 10 - 16)
Currently a fetch of strong to gale-force S/SW winds are being aimed up past our coast, extending well south of us into the Southern Ocean.
This should produce a moderate sized increase in S'ly swell this afternoon, peaking overnight, but tomorrow morning we should still see solid 3-4ft waves at south swell magnets ahead of a drop through the day, further down from 1-2ft Sunday morning.
Conditions are looking great for south facing spots with a W/NW tending variable wind. Some locations are likely to see sea breezes.
Sunday should be clean ahead of sea breezes.
For the rest of the week there's nothing too major on the cards with a very small S'ly swell glancing the coast Monday and some better potential late next week.
This revolves around a deepening polar low south of the state with it due to hopefully move towards the Tasman Sea. We'll have another look at this Monday. Have a great weekend!
