Best Days: Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday

Recap

Tiny surf yesterday, with a tiny hint of new north-east windswell this morning but with no real substance.

This weekend and next week (Jul 2 - 8)

This weekend won't really offer any chance for a wave with the swells passing us by being too west in nature to wrap up our coast.

Instead we look to next week where a deepening surface trough and developing low pressure system moves in from the west.

As the low moves offshore, a fetch of strengthening S/SE winds will be generated off our coast, kicking up a building SE windswell through Tuesday.

The low looks to develop a touch too north to be of any real benefit with a junky 2ft wave developing Tuesday afternoon with some better size to 3ft or so Wednesday morning.

Poor SE winds are due Tuesday with better S/SE tending SW winds Wednesday causing the swell to ease into the afternoon as the low moves off to the east. Thursday should then be cleaner again but with fading 2ft+ waves. Longer term the E/SE swell will just slowly ease from the low moving slowly across New Zealand, with nothing major until possibly the following week. More on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
