Fun S'ly swell pulses, cleanest over the weekend
Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 5th August)
Best Days: Thursday, early Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Recap
A small surfable pulse of S'ly swell was seen yesterday morning, before easing back through the afternoon and becoming tiny today.
This week and weekend (Aug 6 - 9)
We've got plenty of S'ly swell on the way, with the storm track falling into better alignment from this afternoon.
An initial strong system pushing up past us today should of produced a late kick in S'ly swell, peaking through tomorrow to a solid 3-5ft across south facing beaches. Winds will be less than favourable though and fresh from the W/SW, favouring more protected spots which will be much smaller.
A temporary drop in size is due into Friday morning but, a final polar front projecting a fetch of strong to gale-force S/SW winds up through our southern swell window tomorrow and Friday should produce a new S'ly groundswell pulse for later Friday and Saturday morning.
This should see south facing beaches kicking back to 3-4ft later in the day, easing from a good 4-5ft Saturday morning, down further from 2-3ft Sunday morning.
Winds will remain less than ideal Friday with a W/SW tending S'ly breze, while the weekend looks great with W'ly tending variable winds Saturday and freshening N/NW winds Sunday.
Into next week, there should still be some lingering SE swell to 1-2ft, with a possible small kick in N/NE windswell through the afternoon.
Longer term there's nothing too significant on the cards, so make the most of the coming S'ly swell.
