Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Fri Dec 20th)

This weekend and next week (Dec20-Dec28)

Central QLD: Small days early week as monsoonal low drifts down

Only tiny/flat surf around, slightly more next week.

A just rideable wave every so often

No great change to the forecast. We have a high pressure system with SE winds feeding into a weak, monsoonal low. At the moment that fetch of local SE winds is located up off the Burdekin coast. Over the weekend the monsoonal low moves out into the Coral Sea with a weak fetch of winds along the southern flank. That fetch shield be enough to generate some small E’ly swell later Sun into Mon.

Monsoonal low in Coral Sea generates small surf for Mon/Tues

The low dissipates quickly and surf eases back through Tues becomes tiny on Xmas Day and into the rest of the Xmas week.

Longer term and things look quiet for the last week of the year.

We may see some tradewinds and small tradeswell develop first week of Jan.
We’ll see how that all looks on Mon.

Seeya then and have a great weekend!
