This week and next week (Dec18-Dec28)

Central QLD: Small days ahead next week as monsoonal low drifts down

Only tiny/flat surf around.

Nothing at the moment under weak pressure gradients in the Coral Sea. We may see some long range E swell show at exposed breaks Fri-Sat with an occ. 1-2ft set possible.

Next week looks a slightly better bet. Looking to the north a weak monsoonal low looks to form off the North QLD Coast and drift into the Coral Sea. Under present modelling the system remains weak and only generates small E’ly swells for the sub-tropics. We’ll monitor that in case of any further development. It should see rideable surf develop through Mon and into Tue.

Weak , monsoonal low generates some small surf next week

At this stage surf then decreases to tiny for Xmas Day.

Still plenty of moving parts, particularly if the monsoonal low gets wound up.

Let’s see how that looks Fri.

Seeya then.
