Becoming tiny with some surfable days next week
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Wed Sep 18th)
This week and next week (Sep18-Sep27)
Central QLD: Becoming tiny with some surfable days next week
Still some tiny but rideable surf around.
Tiny but still rideable
High pressure is now up over NSW and sliding into the Tasman, with zonal fronts below the continent bringing mostly offshore W’ly winds to temperate NSW, more N’ly up in the sub-tropics. SE winds in the Coral Sea jhave been just widespread enough to generate some tiny but rideable surf for CQ but this fetch is now weakening and moving away. As a result we’ll see tiny to flat surf become established through Thurs/Fri into the weekend and extending into early next week.
The next high pressure ridge will build in on Tues next week and if current modelling holds we should see weak but persistent tradewinds develop in the Coral Sea mid next week with small but rideable surf developing Wed or Thurs.
Weak but persistent trades generate small surf later next week
Lets see how it looks on Fri.
Seeya then.
