Rideable waves every day this week, more into next week
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Wed May 8th)
This week and next week (May8-May17)
Central QLD: Rideable waves every day this week, more into next week
Fun waves every day this week.
Plenty of fun on low tide
No great change to this very sluggish pattern as strong high pressure near Tasmania gets reinforced by a new cell and this peanut high straddles Tasmania before inching into the Tasman. The resulting high pressure ridge is leading to deep onshore flows and a constant steady state fetch in the Coral Sea which is producing fun waves across CQ this week.
SE winds in the Coral Sea are holding a surf pattern this week
We should see a slight easing over the weekend and early next week before a new surge rebuilds wave heights from mid next week.
We’ll see how all that looks on Fri.
Seeya then.
