This week and next week (Jan5 -Jan12)

Central QLD: Some small surf now on the radar- nothing exciting though

Tiny/flat surf across the region with some small days now on the radar.

Not a great deal of change to the weekend f/cast other than the current SE surge lifting wave heights a notch into Sun as winds freshen through the Wide Bay/CQ region (see below). Expect size to push up into the 1-2ft range later Sat and extend into Sun.

That initial SE surge eases into Mon with size dropping down a notch.

SE surge lifts wave heights a notch this weekend

High pressure moving across the Tasman with a reinforcing high tracking towards New Zealand through the week is the story for next week. We’ll see SE-E/SE winds for the week and small, just rideable swells. A large troughy area in the Coral Sea is still preventing tradewinds from forming in the normal Coral Sea swell window (they remain more southwards located) so wave heights will remain subdued across CQ next week. They should stay in the 1-1.5ft range through Tues/Wed before dropping back to tiny later next week as winds ease in the Coral Sea.

Check back Mon for the latest and have a great weekend!
