Tiny surf ahead this week
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Mon 20th Nov)
This weekend and next week (Nov20-Dec 1)
Central QLD: Tiny surf ahead this week
Weak high pressure is in the Tasman with an unstable troughy air mass in the interior and along the coast with a N’ly flow across most of the Eastern seaboard as winds off the top of the high feed into the trough. Another high pressure system well below the continent approaches at Tasmanian longitudes late this week with a frontal intrusion prior to it’s entrance into the Tasman Sea. The troughy pattern remains installed into the medium term.
With weak winds in the Coral Sea we’ll see tiny surf this week. Not dead flat, there’ll be just enough swell energy from a constant regime of weak E’ly winds to hold a very small weak swell, possibly just surfable on low tides.
Similar outlook for next week with continuing weak winds in the Coral Sea and more tiny surf.
Check back Wed and we’ll see how it’s shaping up.
