Central QLD:  Waiting for the next SE surge to deliver more waves

Size has eased right back through today after an extended period of fun waves, but there’s more to come.

High pressure is now close to New Zealand, with an advancing trough and cold front bringing a fresh S’ly change, expected to generate a strong SE surge up the sub-tropical coast as a new high moves into the Bight and strengthens. Once the new high high moves into the Tasman over the weekend it’ll set up a blocking pattern with constant SE-E/SE winds and plenty of fun sized surf.

Expect a low point tomorrow and into Fri with only minor background swells on low tides.

Once the high moves into position and the SE surge builds through the Coral Sea Fri (see below) we’ll see surf up into the fun sized range over the weekend into early next week.

SE surge brings another round of fun waves

That pattern extends into next week with high pressure holding SE winds in CQ. E swell chugs away in the 2ft range, likely easing back Thurs next week and becoming tiny into the weekend 30/9.

Check back Fri for the latest.
