Tiny/flat surf this week
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Mon 14th Aug)
This weekend and next week (Aug14-Aug25)
Central QLD: Tiny/flat surf this week
No surf to speak of since Fri with tiny/flat conditions becoming established under NE winds.
We’ve got a weak, troughy pattern unfolding now adjacent to the NSW Coast in the near Tasman Sea and very weak pressure gradients in the Coral Sea (see below).
With no swell sources on tap for CQ we’re looking at a tiny/flat week, par for the course for this time of year.
Looking ahead and flat surf extends through this weekend.
High pressure in the Tasman next week looks to establish a weak Tradewind flow in the Coral Sea, which may see some small (1-2ft) surf start to build in across CQ by mid next week.
That’s a long way into the future so check back in on Wed and we’ll see how it looks.
