This week and next week (May 3-May12)

Central QLD: Just rideable swells this week, small long range surf next week

Just a tiny wave available on low tides as background energy from the South Pacific maintains a weak signal.

Tiny, just rideable on low tides

High pressure moving into the Tasman tomorrow builds just enough strength in the QLD ridge to see SE winds in the Coral Sea generate a small surf this weekend, in the 1-1.5ft range, just rideable at most CQ spots.

The ridge breaks down early next week as a deep low forms in the lower Tasman Sea with weak breezes establishing across the CQ coast from Mon and extending through most of next week.

Surf should remain rideable at exposed locations as a long persistent tradewind fetch in the South Pacific sends E-E/SE swell which makes it’s way through the Capricorn Channel.

No great size is expected but we should see inconsistent 1-2ft surf at exposed breaks from Mon, extending into Thurs

Check back Fri and we’ll see how this is shaping up.
