This week and next week (Apr3-Apr14)

Central QLD:Tiny into Easter but some hope on the horizon

There are some tiny waves out here for the patient

A trough of low pressure off the CQ coast and a high in the Tasman (1025hPa) tried hard to overcome tiny surf and managed to lift wave heights to almost rideable levels through yesterday and today.

The bad news is this trough dissipates and moves south through tomorrow dragging any swell generating winds with it and leaving a light and variable flow and tiny surf into the Easter weekend.

Get onto open breaks tomorrow and there may be a tiny rideable wave, but from Wed we’ll be back to tiny/flat surf.

Looks like the Easer break will be better for fishing/diving pursuits but there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Early next week, possibly Tues, we’ll see a stronger high in the Tasman with a broad SE surge pushing up the QLD Coast. It’s a long way out but under current modelling this offers good potential for rideable surf to develop through this period from Tues onwards next week, possibly extending into the end f next week.

SE surge into the Coral Sea next week offers some hope for rideable surf

Check back Wed and we’ll see how it’s shaping up.
