Moderate S/SW groundswell pulses, possible large start to August
Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Thursday 14th July)
Best Days: Exposed breaks to the S/SW swell over the coming period each morning
This week and next (Jul 17 - 29)
Some excellent sessions have gone down the last couple of days and we're now seeing the large SW groundswell episode starting to ease.
The surf is still large across exposed breaks, with it due to settle more into the 6ft range at magnets tomorrow.
From tomorrow afternoon through next week, S/SW groundswell pulses are due to fill in across the island, generated by front after front after front projecting up towards south-west WA.
The first couple will be the most consistent, projecting up closer towards WA, while the last swell for Thursday will be the least consistent, generated on the polar shelf.
Friday afternoon's kick should hold Saturday around the 6ft range across exposed breaks on the sets, with a secondary reinforcing pulse for Sunday and early Monday coming in around a similar size, easing back through Monday afternoon.
Moderate to fresh E/SE trades are due through this period, strengthening from Wednesday through the end of the week (early each morning should see light local land breezes).
The two less consistent pulses for later Tuesday/Wednesday morning and Thursday will be produced by slightly stronger but less favourably aligned systems.
Later Tuesday's increase doesn't look to offer much size above 4-5ft, easing back from a similar size Wednesday, with Thursday's being a touch stronger and to 4-6ft into the afternoon but super inconsistent.
Easing surf is due into next weekend, with another moderate sized pulse of S/SW groundswell on the cards for later Saturday and more so Sunday.
Of greater importance is a stronger cold outbreak expected through the Indian Ocean later next week, hopefully generating a large and powerful SW groundswell for the start of August, but more on this Tuesday.

Whats this " stronger cold outbreak" ? Is that a mistake
Yeah, should be strong cold outbreak.
I'm in Bali next week.....bugger me......sooooo not up for the mackin swell that's due up there next week!!!
It's lining up as possibly the biggest of the season :o
Fucking typical....and I haven't surfed anything over 4 ft since my Indo trip in August last year!!!
Low tide Outside Corner Don. You'll be fine pack the Desert Storm. Paddle out from down Thomas Beach. Wait for the nuggets.
If the winds pan out as Swellnet predicts , then you'll be in for all kinds of good times Don.
PS - Sorry I didn't get back to you Craig, I sort of missed the main swell last week and didn't really get anything that I thought too amazing.....or anything I could brag about on the Internet without ruining the future prospects of through hind casting .
PPS - just rechecked the forecast, winds are now called ESE - which , frankly is a lot more believable than the 3 days of W / NW predicted before.
Outside corner it is ......you're fucked Don.
I really don't think there could be a safer big wave than outside corner, I scored it last month, not massive but big enough to use a 7'6 comfortably.
And fuck it's the most beautiful big wall you could ever hope to surf.
Easy take off on the right board, loooong bottom turns and a fuck load of fun.
I'm pretty jealous of you right now don!
Have a ripper!
Hey Don you better start swiming some laps off the pool hahaha.
I think I've left my run a bit late for that!!
Latest forecast has back to back solid swells next week too.
