Fun swells from Monday, large swell to start September

Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Thursday 20th August)

Best Days: Saturday and Sunday mornings, Monday onwards

This week and next week (Aug 21 - 28)

Make the most of the dawny tomorrow across exposed coasts as the swell will really tail away into the afternoon. Some long-range background SW groundswell is due Saturday and Sunday but only to 3-5ft on the former and 4-5ft on the later across swell magnets.

Monday's very inconsistent SW groundswell is still on track with it peaking to 5-6ft across exposed breaks, with the rare bomb an outside chance.

This swell should then ease into Tuesday and more noticeably Wednesday under moderate to fresh E/SE trades (lighter and more variable each morning).

Now, Thursday's larger S/SW groundswell pulse has unfortunately been downgraded with the vigorous polar frontal progression generating it now becoming disjointed. In saying this wind speeds will still reach the severe-gale range in the first system, with the secondary system being a touch weaker.

We'll see two pulses of moderate to large S/SW groundswell, the first being the biggest and best, building Thursday to an inconsistent 6ft+ across exposed breaks into the evening, and then easing a touch from a similar size Friday morning. The secondary swell is then due Sunday to the 6ft range, dropping away through Monday.

Thankfully the secondary pulse of large groundswell due for the start of September is still on track, with a much stronger, broader and multi-stage frontal progression forecast to fire up through the Indian Ocean during next week.

A large SW groundswell is expected, with it due to arrive Tuesday the 1st of September and build to peak on the Wednesday in the 8-10ft range, but we'll have another look at this on Tuesday.

I'm struggling to contain the excitement about this indo trip, you guys. You really know how to make a man go weak at the knees.

BTW - can anyone recommend wax that doesn't go slippery when you're lathered up in coconut oil? Always an occupational hazard when in Bali.

Hey Craig
How confident are you feeling about that swell in the first week of Sept? And looks like something brewing behind it to?

Real confident Sarge, still looking strong with a peak in the 8-10ft range. Swells behind it a bit flakier.
