Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued 2nd April)

Best Days: Every day over the coming period besides when the swell bottoms out Monday morning

This week and weekend (Apr 3 - 6)

After a good pulse of S/SW groundswell yesterday, the surf has slowly backed off into today but we should see it steady around 3-4ft+ tomorrow across exposed breaks as a very inconsistent long-range S/SW groundswell fills in.

A weak burst of trades is expected, but early morning should be clean and glassy across most spots.

A slight kick in new background S/SW groundswell is due Saturday but only to 4-5ft across exposed breaks as winds tend light and variable.

Sunday will be smaller and only surfable at swell magnets.

Next week onwards (Apr 7 onwards)

A couple of inconsistent S/SW groundswells are due through next week, the first building Monday afternoon and peaking early Tuesday ahead of a secondary increase through the day Thursday and third Friday.

This will be from a series of polar fronts firing up south of Heard Island and pushing east-northeast towards Australia.

With the systems being so far away from us, no major size is due and there'll be very long waits between sets.

Monday evening and Tuesday morning's should be the strongest with infrequent 4-5ft sets across exposed breaks, easing Wednesday with Thursday and Friday's pulses being more in the 3-5ft range.

Winds are due to be light and variable each morning ahead of moderate to fresh E/SE trades into the afternoons.

Longer term there's nothing major due into next weekend with a large blocking pattern across the Indian Ocean. This blocking pattern may be broken during next weekend resulting in some better sized swells into the middle of the month, but we'll have another look at this on Tuesday.
