The Trickle Down Effect
Bugger economics and the trickle down theory of tax cuts at the top trickling down to the lower strata of society. That's not what I'm here to explain. The trickle down effect in my parlance (at least when I made it up five minutes ago) is when a solid south swell smashes the southern end of NSW and gradually gets smaller in size as it moves up the coast.
You keeping up with me here?
No? Well luckily I've prepared a case study.
Last Thursday Sydney got hit by a burly six foot south swell that lit up all the reefs and points. The swell continued up the coast (trickling down all the way right). By Friday the swell was less than half that size and a beachbreak-only affair up on the Tweed Coast. Amazing!
The learnin' never stops at Swellnet.
Thanks to Adam Weathered for the shots, and Dane Bird, Blake Wilson, Dan Pryor and Josh Fuller for their (unwitting) roles in the study.//STUART NETTLE
