Time and Motion: Garrett Parkes
There was a fella called Ray Price that used to run around the paddock for Parramatta back in their 80's heyday. Price used to go by the name Mr Perpetual Motion which, as far as nicknames go, lacks the brevity of 'Pricey' but is only slightly more inspired. Not ones for creativity, the footy folk gave called him Mr Perpetual Motion cos he didn't stop moving. Simple as that. Garrett Parkes has the same propensity for movement. Out in the water Garrett gets busy and continally hunts the bank for waves. On the wave his surfing is both function and flair. Not one for wasting a section to hit the next he doesn't bother with set-up turns, but rather makes every move count. As for the turns themselves, if he's not blowing the back out of every wave it's only cause of his lighter frame. With a few years and a few kg's on top of his already slick rail work he'll be a demolition job. Time and Motion study conducted by Steen Barnes on location at Wollongong.//STUART NETTLE
