Stadium rock
Late on Sunday Nick Sheffield and his wife Lou sat on a NSW South Coast beach, the lone spectators to a wild show. Eight to ten feet of long period energy thundered shoreward into a stiff offshore creating perfect outsized waves breaking far beyond the normal play zone. The soft angled light giving the impression the waves were almost doable. Almost...
An hour ealier Nick and a small crew sat on a more protected but no less friendly reefbreak. The sequence shows Nick on a hollow one. And if you think it's awfully clever how Nick can take the photos and surf the wave, well that's not the half of it - Lou took those shots, despite having barely picking up a camera before. Clever indeed.
