South Coast bommie - photos

I had access to a boat only for one day so I picked the first day of the swell knowing that it'd be the biggest day of the two.
I had Russell Bierke lined up with really no-one really interested in taking on the 8 to 10 foot waves, with the odd 12 to 15 foot bombs. Russell had a brand new 10 foot Kirk Bierke dark orange gun ready to take out on the fresh new South Pole swell monsters. It was thick, hard, and growing.
The winds were light and onshore which we laughed about as it looked so offshore, although the waves were chandeliering. All I wish we had was some tow action as the wave out there moves so fast. All the same, Russ took them on and got a couple of good ones. There was definitely a lot unridden monster barrels out there.//TIM BONYTHON
