Seizing the days in the Maldives
Joel Coleman from Saltmotion has been working on his tan the past month, living aboard a luxury charter boat in the Maldives and taking the odd photo. His time was spaced across three charters both care of The Perfect Wave travel company.
The first trip was aboard the Carpe Diem in the Southern Atolls from mid to late-April. Peter from Perfect Wave HQ was also aboard. Said Pete, "We enjoyed consistent 2-4 foot waves all week. The highlights were a super fun 4 foot plus day at Tiger Stripes, and a magic 3-4 foot day at Five Islands. Joel turned a lovely shade of walnut brown."
Old Joel's second trip was also aboard the Carpe Diem in the Central Maldivian Atolls from late April to early May. The highlight of that trip being two consecutive days at an uncrowded Central Atoll righthander - Machines.
From May 1st-11th Joel - now looking more like a Brazil nut - transferred to the Carpe Vita and moved to the Male atolls scoring 10 days of consistent 3-4 foot swell with a couple of days of rain in the mix. Surf guide Brian James said of the trip, "The last ten days has seen back-to-back swells. North Male has seen the best of it with light wind and lots of sun. And Joel is now sporting a magnificent deep mahogany tan."
The Perfect Wave have some enticing specials on select 2014 peak season charters.
