The Reef Hawaiian Pro: Finals Day
The first event of the Triple Crown, the Reef Hawaiian Pro, suffered out of control conditions at the beginning of the waiting period, abject flatness through the middle, and then bog average surf at the end. At least the sun was shining.
Michel Bourez nabbed first place, the second time he's won here. The first time was five years ago and that win jumpstarted his 'CT qualification. In fourth place today was South Australian, Dion Atkinson, and he's hoping to follow Bourez's lead. Atkinson has been hovering around the cut-off mark for four years, never quite making it. Today's result, however, puts him well within contention, a strong result at Sunset and he's in.
